When you arrive in Puri, register at your hotel. Puri, one of the four destinations of the most revered Chardham Yatra, is among the most sacred destinations of the Hindu pilgrimage. The sacred place is better known as the abode of Lord Jagannath.
Later in the day, we will proceed to Chilika Lake.
Spread between 600 & 1100 square kilometers, depending on the season of your visit, Lake Chilika is the largest brackish water lagoon in Asia, separated from the Bay of Bengal by an island 60 kilometers long and a well-known sand bar as Rajhansa. Chilika Lake is a designated Ramsar site due to its rich biodiversity. The lake has also registered more than a million birds, including migratory birds such as pink flamingos, cranes & herons that come here to nest during the winter season. If the weather permits today, you can also visit the Puri beach and walk through the market to go shopping. Return to the hotel for your night stay.
On the second day of your Jagannath Rath Yatra tour package, proceed to witness one of the most important religious shows on the planet. Witness the Rath Yatra procedures from a position on the roof that will also offer excellent photographs if you are a shutterbug.
Rath Yatra celebrates the Hindu belief that Lord Jagannath takes an annual break in the middle of summer to retire to his aunt's house along with his sister Subhadra and his older brother Balabhadra. The three deities are returned to the main street in Puri and loaded into their big cars and then the great procession goes to the Temple of Gundicha, where the gentleman enjoys vacations in the house of his aunt.
Such is the strength of the procession and the presence of devotees in great numbers that this annual ritual led to the coining of the English term juggernaut which means an unstoppable force. During the yatra, Puri is dyed with the most vivid tones of pure joy and enjoyment and meets with devotees and travelers from all over India & around the world.
Then return to your hotel for the night stay.
On the third day, post a leisurely breakfast, check-out from the hotel and drive to Konark. On the way to Konark, visit Raghurajpur, the heritage craft village of Odisha or Orissa. Art of palm leaf prints, tussar paintings, stone carvings, and papier-mâché toys are produced in this village.
Later, after knowing the art of this place, continue your journey to Konark, which is a city in the Puri district. Upon arrival in Konark, check-in at a hotel and rest for a while.
You can visit the main attractions of the place, including the Konark Sun temple; World Heritage designed in the form of a colossal chariot with seven horses and ten wheels that transport the Sun God Surya through the heavens, the A.S.I Museum (Archaeological Survey of India); home to over 260 antiques recovered from Sun Temple's cleanup work and Chandrabhaga Beach; It is believed that a sacred dip in Chandrabhaga can cure leprosy. You can also have a great surfing experience on the Kushabhadra River.
Stay overnight at the hotel.
On the fourth day, after a delicious breakfast, leave the hotel and head towards Bhubaneswar. On the way to this destination, visit Pipili, a town well known for its skilled craftsmen, who are dedicated to the craft of applications. You can also visit the hill Dhauli, located on the banks of the Daya River. This hill is famous for its rock edicts of Ashoka. At the top of the hill is a white pagoda that was built in the year 1970 and is an attraction to visit.
Then head to the Chausathi Yogini Temple, which was used by a Tantric for its worship of the goddess Kali. This temple, dating from the ninth century, has a circular shape and opens from the top.
When you arrive at this destination, register at a hotel and spend the night.
The fifth day is proposed to explore Bhubaneswar. After breakfast, leave the hotel to enjoy a sightseeing tour of this splendid destination. With temples in almost every street, this city is popularly known as the Temple City of India.
On a trip to this destination, you can visit some of the most famous temples, which include the Lingaraj Temple, the Ananta Vasudeva Temple, and the Rajarani Temple. These temples show a great work of architecture, prevailing in previous times. Some of the newly built temples that also deserve a visit include Iskcon & Ram Mandir.
Later, visit the caves of Udayagiri & Khandagiri, which are partly natural and partly man-made. It is believed that the inscriptions made in these caves are from the 1st and 2nd centuries BC.
While exploring this destination, do not forget to visit the lush Nandankanan Zoo. This park includes a zoo and a botanical garden and extends over an area of ??400 hectares. You can also enjoy a safari of lions & tigers in this park.
After sightseeing, return to the hotel and spend the night.
On the sixth day, leave the hotel and head to the airport/train station of Bhubaneswar to continue your trip.
